How To Draw Clerestory Windows In Plan

How to tag windows that are to a higher place the cutting plane?

I take a project with clerestory windows with sill heights at 2600.

My cut airplane is at 1200. In the by I've been able to select tab while hovering over a wall and it would select the windows higher up the cut plane; however, i recollect these may be likewise high?

Is there whatsoever solution to this?

Unfortunately I can't use a plan region because in that location are bifold doors below the clerestory windows which are crucial to show

Turn on underlay looking upwards from your floor unlimited height, you should encounter the window above equally a calorie-free gray line. Use linework tool to select some lines from the window every bit overhead, now you tin can plough off underlay and tag the window and fifty-fifty better you tin can see where the window is in relation to the door.

Thank you! This was the solution I went with!

Can you lot not change your view range upper limit to just over 2600?

You should be able to tab until the transom window is selected. If that doesn't work, use a plan region, tab until you're able to tag information technology, then delete the region afterwards. Tags should remain. At times it may exist easier to just tag the window in elevations and/or call it out in a section item.

Create a plan region over the walls in the surface area where the windows are located that has a cutting plane ready to 2800 or so. They should show upwards in plan now and you lot should exist able to tag them as normal.

Why would y'all desire to tag something that you can't see in your electric current view? IMO y'all should tag those higher windows in another flooring program (with higher elevation) or on the elevation sheets. If you still accept to tag the window I would add a new 2D family similar to the window tag you are using and add some "above" legend or something.

I'thou working in a home office for a family friend, they usually accept a draftsman they work with on a contractual footing who uses autocad simply he's unavailable so I'g using revit to practice working drawings.

In his drawings he tags windows to a higher place the cutting plane using a dissimilar window tag, a dashed octagon instead of a solid line to differentiate.

Made the family no problem but am having problem actually tagging said windows

Just make a clerestory plan. Just like an RCP sail.

I think if y'all describe a vertical symbolic line in the family unit that reaches the cutting aeroplane, yous can go the window to show up.

level 1

Try enabling temporary view backdrop. Alter the view range. Tag window. Then reset temporary view properties.

level 2

Tags will disappear in one case the windows are not visible anymore.

level 1

Duplicate the plan with detailing and place the new program on acme of original 1. On the new overplayed programme, edit the crop region to just prove the clerestory windows and tag them there. It'll be messy for sure but will probably piece of work for your needs.

I utilize a imitation tag in these instances, if you tin't use a plan region. Then just write (above) below the tag.
